(When I Know) I’m Not The Only One

©2015 by Terry Winchell

I’m not the only one who’s hurting

I’m not the only one who has lost

I can’t feel sorry for myself

When I know I’m not the only one

This world can appear big and empty

when you’re lonely inside

Lately everywhere that I end up

there’s no place left to hide

There’s plenty of broken hearts

wandering these streets in every town

The sidewalks worn down and are shinning

from all the years of tears hitting the ground

I’m not the only one who hurting

I’m not the only one who has lost

I can’t feel sorry for myself

when I know I’m not the only one

There was a time when I didn’t know

the things I know now

Like everyone at one time rides the pity train

We wrestle with the truth

we fight ourselves and oh we blame

Our hearts would mend if from the start

we filled them up with love Love love

I’m not the only one who hurting

I’m not the only one who has lost

I can’t feel sorry for myself

When I know I’m not the only one

only one I’m not the only one,

only one I’m not the only one

only one

Slumberland

© 2015 by Terry Winchell

August wanes sunsets glow

summers last dance

crickets courting I'm barefoot walking

through pink fields of Cosmos

Gathered flowers in my bare arms

I kneel down to cut longer stems

A rush of wind moves candy colors over head

And I'm down low down wind in Slumberland

And I’m down low down wind in Slumberland

All curled up dreaming is a red fox

sleeping in a candy field

Flowers sway light cast through

it flickers in the wind

Only us the fox and I in a kaleidoscope dream

Its a gift this surprise for only my eyes

I hear his breath he doesn't stir

This magic creature who’s so wise

  soft white face red fur

And I’m down low down wind in Slumberland

And I'm down low down wind in Slumberland

All curled up right in front of me

is a red fox sleeping in a candy field

And I'm down low down wind in Slumberland

And I'm down low down wind in Slumberland

All curled up am I dreaming

of a red fox sleeping in a candy field?

All curled up dreaming is a red fox

sleeping in a candy field

Mary Don’t Look Back

© 2015 by Terry Winchell

Mary came to America

to Ellis island when she was six

With her mother and her brother

and a rolled up feather bed

Papa came over earlier

he worked and sent the money back

In a letter with a promise

they were going to a better place

Mary don’t look back

Mary don’t look back

Many go to places they don’t know

oh they just don’t  know

 Mary stood into the wind

with her ribbons and her bows

She’s going to a better place

 oh she knows

Mary married a music man

she found freedom in his songs

She dreamed about being in the movies

and wished upon shooting stars

Later she raised six children

her husband worked night and day

she fell lonely and lost her way

when the bottle took her far

from her light

Mary don’t look back

Mary don’t look back

Many go to places they don’t know

they oh they just don’t  know

Mary stood into the wind

with her ribbons and her bows

She’s going to a better place

oh she knows

Mary's husband turned 85

they made peace before he died

Her children have scattered

some stay in touch while others hide

This spring she turned 84

she’s having trouble getting around

She’s says she knows where the time has gone

and she knows where it’s going

Mary use to be afraid but she not any more

She’s says she’s going home

Yeah she’s going to a better place

Mary don’t look back

Mary don’t look back

Many go to places they don’t know

 oh they just don’t  know

 Mary stood into the wind

with her ribbons and her bows

She’s going to a better place

oh to a better place

 Oh Mary don’t look back

Mary don’t look back

Mary don’t look back

Mary don’t Look back

Oh Mary don’t look back

Mary don’t look back

Oh Mary Oh Mary Oh Mary

It’s Not Sad

© 2015 by Terry Winchell

It’s not sad that I’m leaving

In my mind I left a long time ago

 I’ll never stop believing

That I’m gonna find a better way

Time is slipping through all ten fingers

Dreams are drifting out to sea

If I don’t leave in a New York minute

It just might get the best of me

It’s not bad that I’m leaving

I’ll find the way home someday

Inside I feel the world calling

it’s saying’ come on come on lets go

So don’t feel sad that I’m leaving

Even though it means a lot to me

Your kind words and what your feeling

I’m gonna to take along with me

Make your home where your heart is

Treat it tenderly

Do what's best leave the rest

My hearts compass is guiding  me

It’s not sad that I’m leaving

In my mind I left a long time ago

 I’ll never stop believing

That I’m gonna find a better way

It’s not bad that I’m leaving

I’ll  find the way home someday

Inside I feel the world calling

it’s saying

come on come on lets go

come on come on come on

come on lets go

come on come on come on

come on come on come on

Come on lets go

come on come on come on

I said come on come on

come on lets go

I said come on come on

come on come on come on

come on lets go come on come on

come on come on come on

come on lets go

come on come on come on

come on come on come on

come on lets go come on lets go

Just Another Love

© 2015 by Terry Winchell

I heard the thunder late last night

as it rolled over me

It stirred up my emotions

and a storm that won’t set me free

Its got a hold on me that’s so strong

How could so much love go so wrong

Its just another love that will never be

I heard the rain on my window

I was hoping it would pour

You see I’ve run out of tears

I just can’t cry anymore

This storm has let me high and dry

he said all the right things

and then he said goodbye

Its just another love that will never be

I was looking to fill an emptiness

didn’t realize I’d get so destroyed

Now I’m full of hurt cuz I left my heart

 oh I left my heart

yeah I left my heart wide open

I heard the thunder late last night

as it rolled over me

It stirred up my emotions

and a storm that won’t set me free

Just another love that will never be

Just another love that will never be

Just another love that will never be

Just another love

That Good Feeling

© 2015 by Terry Winchell

Come on lets take it slow on the road today

You know it feels so right go any where we wanna go

We need to spread our wings and fly let go of everything

That's when we'll start to feel feel what’s real

That’s when we'll start to see the light of day shine the way

Oh that good feeling Do do do do do do

ah haaaa Do do do do do do

We're driving on a city street winding up a country road

Fingers keeping the beat the music shakes the radio

Taking in the sounds and sites singing under starry nights

That's when we'll start to feel feel what’s real

That’s when we'll start to see the light of day shine the way

Oh that good feeling

Every day is a beautiful thing

(it's a beautiful thing)

Light untangles darkness each morning

Awareness will always guide us through

(guide us through)

Never abandon the love that lives in you

Yeah that's when we'll start to feel Oh feel what’s real

That’s when we'll start to see the light of day

that's when we'll start to feel oh feel what’s real

That’s when we'll start to see the light of day

shine the way to our hearts

Oh that good feeling Do do do do do do

ah ah ha ha do do do do do ah ah ah ....
